EU-Wahlen 2024: Das Abstimmungsverhalten der Parteien zum Klima- und Umweltschutz im Überblick

Mit dem europäischen Green Deal hat die EU die Weichen in Richtung Klimaneutralität und für mehr Klimagerechtigkeit gestellt. In den letzten Monaten wurde dieser ambitionierte Pfad jedoch immer wieder in Frage gestellt. Umso bedeutender ist die Rolle der EU-Bürger*innen, die mit ihrer Wahlentscheidung im Juni 2024 mitbestimmen, welche Stimmen sich in der nächsten Legislaturperiode durchsetzen werden. Erasmus-Projekt TRAILS: erstes Treffen in der Slowakei

Wie sieht Trail-Management bei unseren slowakischen Nachbar*innen aus? Das haben wir uns bei unserem ersten Study Visit im Rahmen des TRAILS-Projekts gemeinsam mit unseren Partnerorganisationen – der Mountaineering Association of Serbia und OTI Slovakia – angesehen. Beim Wandern auf den „Zobor“, den Hausberg der Stadt Nitra, ist klar hervorgegangen, dass hier ehrenamtlich tätige Personen das Fundament des Wegemanagements bilden – wie auch in Österreich und Serbien. Doch in den drei Ländern ist es schwierig, junge Menschen dafür zu begeistern. Welche Möglichkeiten es für eine bessere Einbindung junger Freiwilliger gäbe, werden wir bei unserem nächsten Study Visit im Zuge der Wegebauwoche der Naturfreunde Österreich erkunden.

Klimaschutz als Menschenrecht anerkannt

Der Europäische Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte hat festgestellt, dass die Schweiz gegen den Artikel 8 der Menschenrechtskonvention – das Recht auf Achtung des Privat- und Familienlebens – verstößt, weil sie zu wenig Maßnahmen für den Klimaschutz setzt. „Dieses Urteil ist ein Meilenstein für den Klimaschutz und unterstützt unsere langjährige Forderung nach einem stärkeren Engagement der wohlhabenden Staaten für Klimaschutz und Klimagerechtigkeit“, sagt Manfred Pils, Präsident der Naturfreunde Internationale. Besserer Schutz der Böden. Schätzungen zufolge sind etwa 60 bis 70 % der europäischen Böden in schlechtem Zustand. Das EU-Parlament legt nun Maßnahmen fest, um bis 2050 gesunde Böden zu erreichen. EU elections 2024: An overview of the parties' voting behaviour in the areas of climate and environmental protection

With the European Green Deal, the EU has set the course towards climate neutrality and more climate justice. In recent months, however, this ambitious path is being called into question. This makes the role of EU citizens even more important, as their vote in June 2024 will influence which voices will prevail in the next legislative period. The EU Parliament Scoreboard by BirdLife Europe, Climate Action Network Europe, European Environmental Bureau, Transport & Environment and WWF European Policy Office, which analyses the voting behaviour of MEPs from 2019 to 2024, offers a decision-making aid.

Erasmus project TRAILS: first meeting in Slovakia

How does trail management look like in neighbouring Slovakia? That is what we looked at during our first study visit as part of the TRAILS project together with our partner organisations - the Mountaineering Association of Serbia and OTI Slovakia. While hiking up "Zobor", the neighbouring mountain of the city of Nitra, it became clear that it is volunteers who form the foundation of trail management here - just like in Austria and Serbia. However, in all three countries it is difficult to get young people interested. We will explore the possibilities for better involvement of young volunteers during our next study visit as part of Naturefriends Austria's Trail Construction Week. More informations …
 

Climate protection recognised as a human right

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Switzerland is in breach of Article 8 of the Convention on Human Rights - the right to respect for private and family life - because it has taken too few measures to protect the climate. "This judgement is a milestone for climate protection and supports our long-standing demand for a stronger commitment of wealthy states to climate protection and climate justice," says Manfred Pils, President of Naturefriends International. Comment se fait la gestion des sentiers chez nos voisins et voisines slovaques ? C'est ce que nous avons examiné lors de notre première visite d'étude dans le cadre du projet TRAILS, en collaboration avec nos organisations partenaires – la Mountaineering Association of Serbia et OTI Slovakia. Lors de la randonnée sur le « Zobor », la montagne emblématique de la ville de Nitra, il est apparu clairement que les bénévoles constituent ici la base de la gestion des sentiers – comme en Autriche et en Serbie. Mais dans les trois pays, il est difficile d'intéresser les jeunes à cette activité. Nous explorerons les possibilités de mieux impliquer les jeunes bénévoles lors de notre prochaine visite d'étude dans le cadre de la Semaine d’aménagement de sentiers des Amis de la Nature d’Autriche.
